What is Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar?“Babies who are born premature and those who are born essentially without a lot of fat on their body, we callthem small for dates, are most at risk for having a condition known as hypoglycemia. Also, a concern and amajor concern are babies that are born at term to moms who have had diabetes during pregnancy. We againscreen these babies very carefully to make sure that the glucoses are within the normal range, the sugars arewithin normal range.We monitor babies for signs of low blood sugar: jitteriness, tremulousness, any signs that the babies are notresponding appropriately.
